Applied Language Solutions was established in Nov 2003 as a small language translation business from the owners back bedroom. It has since seen phenomenal growth due to innovative IT processes which are unique within this industry and now has a staff of 90.The company has won numerous SME business awards both regional and National including the HSBC Start Up Stars award in 2006. Gavin Wheeldon CEO has also won prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year awards, most recently from the IoD.
We also have offices in UK, Bulgaria, Los Angeles, Chicago and India amongst others.
We are recruiting on an exclusive basis for this privately owned service sector business which is moving this year into the medium size category. We have experienced a period of dramatic growth since the business was first established in Nov 2003 and wish to make a key appointment in order to prepare for future expansion including acquisitions targeted for next year.

As Finance Director you will report to the CEO and take full responsibility for the running of the Finance dept. This role is predominately strategic but with some hands on duties when necessary. You will manage a staff of five (one qualified) and tasked with the development of staff, management reporting, group restructuring and analysis of KPI’s. You will also help guide and consult the business on its future.
The position requires working alongside the other Directors of the company in shaping the long term strategic planning, budgeting and financing of the business. We are looking for a Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACMA/ACCA) with significant experience working as the No1 finance person for business's within the service sector preferably but not exclusively. Also advantageous is someone who has worked in a fast growing sector, has dealt with International finance and has negotiated with VC’s and Banks to secure funding for a business.
You will also be commercially minded and a flare for the entrepreneurial spirit will be seen as a major asset. The successful candidate will be expected to manage and negotiate with financial institutions, external auditors and other professionals. It is an extremely diverse role and will suit a highly ambitious person who can work under tight deadlines. The company is targeting a future flotation and the scope for some equity ownership is a great possibility.
