'US language translation business thriving'

Translation services in the United States are thriving as companies increasingly rely on interpretation services to communicate in the uncertain global economic climate.

Lori Ann Elzerman, Founder of Michigan-based firm Expert Language Services, said that the slowdown in the US economy is leading many American companies to try and sell their products abroad, reports MLive.com.

According to the news provider, Beverly Cornell, marketing and sales director of interpretation service Iterotext, added: "Arabic is one of the more popular [languages]. Asian languages such as Chinese, Korean and even Vietnamese are becoming more popular."

"Eastern European such as Czech, Hungarian and Polish is on the rise as well with the automotive companies going there," she added.

Earlier this week the Boston Globe reported that Acton Public School Committee in Massachusetts announced the state has seen an increase in the number of public schools offering Chinese as part of their curriculum.
